Terms of Use

Last updated: June 13, 2026

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of SimpleFinances (“SimpleFinances,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), available at simplefinances.co (the “Service”). Please read them carefully.

01Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

02The Service

SimpleFinances is a personal-finance tool that helps you connect financial accounts, view transactions, set budgets, and understand your spending. We may add, change, or remove features at any time.

03Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract to use the Service. By using the Service, you represent that you meet these requirements and that the information you provide is accurate.

04Your Account

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us promptly at [email protected] if you suspect any unauthorized use. You may not share your account or use someone else’s account without permission.

05Subscriptions, Billing, and Cancellation

Certain features require a paid subscription. Subscriptions are billed in advance on a recurring basis through our payment processor, Stripe, until cancelled. By subscribing, you authorize us and Stripe to charge your payment method for the applicable fees and any taxes.

You may cancel at any time; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and you will retain access until then. Except where required by law, fees are non-refundable and we do not provide refunds or credits for partial billing periods. We may change our prices, and we will give you reasonable notice before a price change applies to you.

06Bank Connections

If you link a financial account, you authorize us and our provider, Plaid, to access account and transaction information on a read-only basis to provide the Service. You represent that you are authorized to provide access to any account you connect. You can disconnect a linked account at any time through your bank or by contacting us.

07Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful, fraudulent, or unauthorized purpose;
  • Access or attempt to access another user’s account or data;
  • Interfere with, disrupt, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or its systems;
  • Reverse engineer, scrape, or copy the Service except as permitted by law; or
  • Use the Service to infringe any third party’s rights.

08Not Financial Advice

SimpleFinances provides tools and information for personal budgeting and informational purposes only. It is not financial, investment, tax, legal, or accounting advice, and it is not a substitute for advice from a qualified professional. You are solely responsible for decisions you make based on the Service.

09Intellectual Property

The Service, including its software, design, text, and branding, is owned by SimpleFinances and protected by intellectual-property laws. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the Service for your personal use, subject to these Terms. Your financial data remains yours; you grant us the rights needed to operate the Service for you.

10Third-Party Services

The Service integrates third-party services such as Plaid, Stripe, and Google. Your use of those services may be subject to their own terms and policies. We are not responsible for third-party services we do not control.

11Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that financial data shown will always be accurate or complete.

12Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, SimpleFinances and its owners will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim or one hundred U.S. dollars ($100).

13Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless SimpleFinances and its owners from any claims, damages, liabilities, and expenses arising out of your use of the Service or your violation of these Terms.

14Termination

You may stop using the Service and close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or if we discontinue the Service. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination — including ownership, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and indemnification — will survive.

15Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.

16Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Virginia, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. You agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in Virginia for any dispute that is not subject to other agreed dispute-resolution terms.
